Ghazipur Project

Amid the spike in the COVID-19 deaths in Delhi, some people were forced to perform the last rites of their relatives at the parking of cremation ground in Ghazipur in the national capital. The cremation ground is receiving almost 50-60 bodies daily, including the bodies of non-COVID patients. People are claiming that they have to return back multiple times as they are not getting space in the cremation ground.
We being deeply affected by the current misery & pain our society is facing, decided to take action with whatever resources we could gather immediately. Our focus was to reach consensus quickly and address ground realities.
At Ghazipur our team Identified 22 caregivers/cremation staff who were working round the clock in inhuman conditions. We then quickly identified a list of supplies that would be required by them to make their living more tolerable. Things like drinking water, dry rations (rice, sugar, aata, dal ), toothbrushes, toothpastes, juice, mosquito balm, slippers, vests, soaps, towels etc. And along with these supplies we also have been providing packed meals (Lunch & Dinner) since past 15 days and are planning to extend the same for which we require your support!
